Originally from Springfield, Missouri, Jason Walsh’s passion for nutrition and fitness was instilled at a very young age. His uncle, and only true male role model, was a mindfully healthy man whose early morning routine included a series of sit-ups and yoga, followed by a hearty bowl of oatmeal. Jason emulated his Uncle’s routine and by the age of 12 had incorporated his own regimen to include cardio and weightlifting. Working out and strength training quickly became a force of habit for Jason and an aspect of his life important as any other. In junior high, Jason took pride in athletics, engaging in any and every sport possible, while late-night workout sessions kept him out of trouble during his high school years.

Jason’s respect and appreciation for health and fitness led him to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill—a public health school ranked just behind Harvard. Although his original intent was to pursue a degree in medical nutrition, Jason’s coursework in kinesiology, physiology, and biomechanics drew his focus back to movement and the body, earning him a B.A. in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in nutrition, physiology and kinesiology.

In his last year at UNC, Jason began working with nationally renowned head strength coach Greg Gatz at Olympic Sports. During his two and a half years there, Jason wrote and implemented workouts and helped oversee more than 440 Division I athletes. He then moved to Tempe, Arizona to work under world-renowned coach Luke Richesson, enabling him to refine his knowledge of movement and functional training. While at Athlete’s Performance, Jason worked with Richesson to train the 2006 Combine Group, ultimately producing the number one draft pick, Mario Williams and first round draft pick Vernon Davis.

Jason’s decision to pursue a career in personal training stemmed from his belief that nutrition and fitness can completely change a person’s life for the better. By working one-on-one with his clients, Jason feels he is given the opportunity, as well as the responsibility, to cultivate an appreciation for being nutritionally sound and fit by making them stronger, healthier, and instilling life-long habits that will keep them looking and feeling their best.

Jason holds two top-level certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT). He currently trains his clients at RISE MOVEMENT, a private gym in West Hollywood.
